In the final seconds, sheer ecstasy broke out for Chelsea and caretaker boss Calum McFarlane as Enzo Fernández stabbed home a dramatic equaliser. The goal left Pep Guardiola ranting in frustration and provided the temporary Chelsea manager a truly golden moment. On paper, Guardiola versus McFarlane could be billed as the Premier League's most pronounced managerial mismatch, making the recollection of Fernández's crucial intervention one to cherish the 40-year-old throughout his career.

A Glaring Contrast in Pedigree

On the home bench was the most decorated manager of his time, a man with an unparalleled CV for elite clubs Barcelona, Bayern Munich, and Manchester City, taking charge of his 1,012th match. In the opposite technical area, was a former coach at lower-league sides Croydon and Whyteleafe, who had served in City's own academy and stepped up to make his senior managerial bow after being seconded from his regular role guiding Chelsea's youth teams.

Factoring in a slew of absences, most notably Chelsea's important midfielder Moisés Caicedo (suspended) and goalkeeper Robert Sánchez (injured), McFarlane's task began as a mission that seemed nearly insurmountable.
